The Persecution and Assassination of Democracy as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Washington Under the Direction of the Supreme Court
June 28, 2012

The Supreme Court decides on the Affordable Care Act (‘Obamacare’) today – well, they’ve already decided, they’re just going public today. I suspect they’ll uphold it because the ‘conservative’ justices are intellectually corrupt, if not in fact corrupt in other ways. It would have been better for the country and the world if the right-wing justices had been strangled in their cradles and never been allowed to hold high office. They crossed the Rubicon into corruption when they savaged the 2000 election to put their choice in office. That decision cost thousands of American lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and Afghani lives and the loss of trillions of dollars from the U.S. treasury.

Later, their Citizens United decision broke the back of democracy in this country. The supporting Montana decision Monday sealed the fate of freedom and sold the United States to its most venal, morally bankrupt citizens, people like the Koch Brothers and the financial backers of the Tea Party, as well as the corporate barons whose only interest in America is how to corrupt democracy to line their pockets.

It is likely that the Court will support the ACA, if for no other reason than that it puts vast sums of money into the pockets of the insurance companies and the already wealthy elites who will then buy more politicians and judges, ensuring that corruption will become absolute. These so-called conservative justices curry favor with the wealthy and the powerful. Their corruption ensures that their decisions conserve nothing of democracy, conserve nothing of liberty, conserve nothing of the Constitution, conserve nothing of what it means that the United States has existed at all.

At some point these, or other, justices may decide that Citizens is a bad decision and seek to overturn it. By then it will be too late. Their decision will be ignored by the corporate lackey government that Citizens is right now creating. Future justices who seek to right the wrongs of Citizens will either be ignored or they will be spoken to harshly by the new barons ruling the country or they will be assassinated, either physically or in reputation.

Fair repayment indeed for the Supreme Court’s persecution and assassination of democracy in America.

Why America Is Going Down The Tubes…
February 29, 2012

Everybody’s favorite fat fatheaded drug addict, the bouncing baby-brain of the Republican Tea Party, that wishful wonder who vomits hatred, bigotry, and illogic as easily as the rest of us breathe, has demonstrated once again how and why he’s leading America down into the sewers of irrelevance, ignorance, and genuine, deep, profound stupidity. That would, of course, be Rush Limbaugh, disgusting depraved diva of the right.

The other day a Georgetown University law student named Sandra Fluke testified before a House committee about hormonal contraception and the medical need it serves for purposes other than preventing pregnancy.

Her appearance and testimony followed the perversion of the issue by Rep. Darrell Issa, who held a hearing on President Obama’s regulation requiring religious-affiliated entities to provide contraception in their health care plans. Issa and his Republican Tea Party conspirators invited no women to testify and explicitly refused Ms. Fluke from testifying, declaring that the issue was religious liberty and not contraception.

It is rumored, though unconfirmed, that after the hearing Mr. Issa swallowed a Viagra paid for by his taxpayer-funded health insurance policy and banged an intern in the chapel as an expression of his religious liberty.

And here’s what the fat boy, the sucker of microphones, the Pied Idiot of the Republican Ratboys of the Raging Right, had to say about Ms. Fluke:

"What does it say….that she essentially says that she must be paid to have sex. What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex, she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the tax payers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? The pimps."

Ms. Fluke gives honest testimony about an important issue to a Congressional Committee and the best argument, the best reasoning that the bouncing druggie can provide to his legions of brain dead followers is to pervert her testimony and call her a slut.

That’s all he’s got. Name calling. No facts. No thought. No logic. No reason. Just schoolyard name calling. Just ‘nyah nyah nyah slut’.

And for this behavior his corporate advertisers see that he makes tens of millions of dollars a year. For leading the country into a sewer of ignorance, hatred, bigotry, and unfettered stupidity, his sponsors, who apparently do not care for America, do not love the country, are not in the least patriotic, reward him handsomely.

Fat boy sucks up the money he’s paid to act like an idiot. He gets on his knees every day before his golden microphone, opens his mouth, and spews out hatred and sucks in money.

So who’s the real whore?

And what does it say about all his johns – corporations and listeners? Real flag wavers, every last one, waving flags that look like Old Glory, but are made of a tissue of lies and ignorance and greed that disgraces the real flag and shames the nation.

It’s simple. If you listen to Limbaugh, if you take him seriously, if you believe anything he says, you hate the United States of America.

Big Surprise: Health Insurance Companies Slime Children!
September 22, 2010

Several companies in the health insurance industry have decided that they will no longer write insurance policies for children because they will ‘no longer be able to deny coverage to children with “pre-existing conditions.”’

HCAN has a write-up on this new piece of slime from the CEO’s and the executive officers and the boards of directors of Wellpoint, CoventryOne, and others.

These companies, according to HCAN, announced this decision just days before pertinent parts of the new reform regulations go into effect, regulations that forbid this sort of behavior, in part at least because it is so disgusting.

Of course! The sociopathic slime that run these companies just couldn’t stand it if they had to give up some of their perks, like expensive mansions and condos, fancy cars, and expensive whores, limitless expense accounts, all purchased on the policyholders’ dimes, not to mention their obscenely huge salaries that they earn by denying people – children – health care coverage.

Why, look, Marge here’s the CEO of Giant Slime Insurance Company looking in our sick little baby. What’s that he’s saying to her? What? “Die you little bitch, die. I need a new Ferrari.”

And let’s not forget that this is exactly what the Republicans and the Conservatives and Tea Idiots want. Corporate rule of America. Rule by sociopathic slime. This is the sort of thing that Mike Huckabee recently cheered for at the so-called Values Voters Summit. This is one of their values. It’s typical of their values, which at their root have the Prime Directive: “Profit matters, people don’t”.

There will be no health care reform until we get rid of these slime-filled parasites, these insurance corporations that suck the life out of people.

The HCAN piece is a good-write up. Check the links, too. Interesting stuff. Keep a barf bucket handy.

Mike Huckabee Is An Effing Sadistic Idiot
September 17, 2010

Mike Huckabee is a fundogelical former governor of Arkansas running for the Republican Presidential nomination. He’s also a sick, stupid s.o.b. Here’s his take on barring insurance companies from refusing people with pre-existing conditions.

"It sounds so good, and it’s such a warm message to say we’re not gonna deny anyone from a preexisting condition," Huckabee explained at the Value Voters Summit today. "Look, I think that sounds terrific, but I want to ask you something from a common sense perspective. Suppose we applied that principle [to] our property insurance. And you can call your insurance agent and say, "I’d like to buy some insurance for my house." He’d say, "Tell me about your house." "Well sir, it burned down yesterday, but I’d like to insure it today." And he’ll say "I’m sorry, but we can’t insure it after it’s already burned." Well, no preexisting conditions."

Pre-existing condition? Tough shit, and don’t let the hospital door hit you in the ass on the way out to the street where you can die.

Pre-existing condition? You had acne when you were thirteen and didn’t tell us about it. Tough shit. No insurance for you. Go die somewhere where we can’t see you.

Hey, Huckabee, people aren’t houses, you fucking Christian dimwit asshole moron. And they aren’t property either, you piece of crap.

And note that his view is the view of the Republicans, the Party of No, the Party of Screw the People, the Party of Help the Rich, the Party of Sociopaths, Idiots, and Incompetents.

The Republican way, perfectly exemplified. And these are the sick bastards the polls say the electorate wants to put back in control? That’s not putting the fox in charge of the henhouse, that’s blowing up the whole goddam farm.

Is The Health Insurance Mandate Backdooring To The Public Option?
March 22, 2010

Okay, The Lion is not a constitutional lawyer, but there’s a question of slyness involved in the health care legislation wending its way through Congress.

Assuming the Senate passes the reconciliation bill of fixes and the President signs the whole magilla, there will be some reform of the health insurance industry, purchased at the price of mandating that everyone buy insurance.

But some thirty states are saying they’re going to fight that provision, and likely some others. Suppose they do, and the mandate question ends up in the Supreme Court.

And further suppose the Boys In Black strike down the mandate, but otherwise leave the law intact.

Then the insurance companies are naked and will have to compete in an open market (the so-called free market the right wing is so fond of promoting while they support it with government handouts and take kickbacks in campaign contributions).

Ergo, in essence, a faux public option in which people will buy the best deal, likely driving down prices and concomitantly forcing the medical care industry to clean up its pricing too.

Could the Democrats have been planning on such a coup all along?

Probably not, but it could be interesting.

AHIP Ad Is Self-Serving Crap. Big Surprise.
March 16, 2010

A front group for the corporate rip-off artists known as health insurance companies put an ad out today telling readers how wonderful the insurance industry is and that the industry actually makes health care more affordable. Just in case you wonder who they really represent, and be assured it’s not you, go to their membership page. All the big names that have been stealing you blind for decades are there.

Welcome to the land of twisted logic.

We strongly support real health care reform that covers
all Americans, makes pre-existing conditions a
thing of the past, and controls skyrocketing medical costs.

Nonsense. They have had the opportunity and the clout for decades to do these things before now, without the hammer of federal law to force them. They have refused because they make their money by denying coverage, by finding every possible piddling excuse to cancel policies so they don’t have to pay medical bills.

The only reason they want to come out and say these things now is because the government is handing them tens of millions of new subscribers, because those millions of people will now be forced into servitude by having to pay for inferior insurance from people who are no better than sociopathic pirates and thieves.

And health insurance companies are not health care companies. They do not give one injection, perform one operation, make one diagnosis, do one single thing that amounts to health care. They make their judas coin by taking subscribers money and denying subscribers the money for health care, leaving those subscribers to be crucified on the cross of sickness, suffering, and misery.

The cost of medical treatments and technologies continues to rise without regard to quality and effectiveness. A
year’s supply of some prescription drugs can cost more
than $250,000. The average cost for a single day’s
stay in the hospital is more than $3,000. A typical MRI
exam costs $1,200.

And the insurance pirates again have had decades to address the problem of costs, and have done nothing substantial, other than raise premiums, deny care, deny coverage, and cancel policies, all to increase profit at the expense of hard-working people who struggle to pay the outrageous premiums, premiums that buy them nothing but aggravation, that do nothing but put ill-trained bureaucratic corporate slugs between them and good health care. So for the pirate industry to complain about health care costs is a total crock.

Health insurers make health care more affordable by helping patients manage chronic conditions, promoting prevention and wellness, and fighting waste and fraud. And the total cost of everything we do, including all overhead, marketing, and profits, amounts to four percent of our nation’s health care spending. We need to become even more efficient, but reform also needs to address the other 96 percent.

Neither health care nor insurance have become more affordable, as the ad itself notes about health care, and as the media note every day in reporting another arrogant health insurance company raising premiums and shutting off coverage for subscribers who get sick.

The ‘total cost of everything we do’ being four percent is misdirection at best, if not an outright lie. Add up all the premiums they take in: that constitutes a major part of so-called health care costs, costs which provide no health care. And that four percent? Four percent of what? The whole health care bill for the country? How about listing the percentage of income for each company that goes to overhead, marketing, profits and obscene salaries. That would be an honest number, assuming they don’t lie about it. That number would tell you what your premiums are really paying for.

And another huge chunk of so-called health care costs comes from the unconscionable amount of time and effort every medical office has to devote to fighting with dozens of insurance companies, with all their varied and dissimilar forms and requirements.

Let’s face it, insurance companies are nothing more than crooked bookies. They take your money, your bet on your health, and they pocket it and tell you your horse lost, so they don’t owe you a damn thing. And there’s not a damn thing you can do about it, except get sick and die.

Your insurance company stands between you and your doctor, between you and good health care. They do not do health care. They do money, and they aren’t needed. Your health care dollars should go from you to your doctors with an absolute minimum of interference from anyone else.

Medicare is the only program in the United States that does that for the average retired working person, and it does it for a genuine four percent operating cost. And it does it with virtually no interference in the doctor-patient relationship.

Medicare is a single payer, government run medical insurance program. Is it perfect? Of course not. But it’s better than the frauds and thieves running the private insurance companies. And if you want to talk savings, imagine how much money would be saved and how much more time your doctor could devote to giving you good medical care if he didn’t have to fight with insurance companies and didn’t have to maintain any number of staff whose only task is to wade through all those different insurance forms and requirements.

AHIP is promoting a crock of crap to make its corporate pirates look good. They want you to feel okay about handing them your money under the proposed federal mandate. You’re being tossed to the wolves and the wolves want to look pretty in their sheep suits. Unfortunately, no matter how you dress a wolf, no matter how much lipstick you put on it, it’s still a wolf. And The Lion apologizes to the wolves of the world, because for the most part they’re smarter than humans, especially the humans who buy into the sheep crap put out by AHIP and the insurance companies.

Medicare For All, The Corporations Be Damned
February 16, 2010

A friend of The Lion mentioned with an expression of rue and a shrug of whatareyagonnado that he pays $22,000 a year for health insurance for his family, with a $4,000 deductible.

He’s fifty. Got a wife. Got two kids in coverage. Works on commission doing sales.

Almost two thousand dollars a month, just in case something serious happens. Figure in the deductible and he pays $26,000 before the insurance company will lift a finger.

In California, Anthem Blue Cross raised rates 26 to 39 percent on individual subscribers, and that after raising rates the year before.

Insurance companies are pirates and thieves. Period. Blanket condemnation. Health insurance companies are sociopathic pirates and thieves. They not only take your money, they kill people.

In Washington, D.C., the politicians cuddle up to the health insurance companies to make sure the companies can continue their murderous and profitable ways. The politicians are determined to reward essential criminality by throwing your money to the corporations. In return you may be lucky enough to get a deal like my friend, a deal that will put enough stress in your life to make you sick, at which point the insurance company will drop you, but keep the outrageous amount of money you have fed them.

Pay no attention to the so-called protections written into the current corporate-approved legislation the politicians are promoting. The corporations have no doubt already figured out ways to get around the bogus protective provisions. After all, the law was written by legislators the corporations own, written with the help of corporate lobbyists who threw over three billion dollars at the Washington politicians last year. (Yes, three Billion.)

Nothing will change in this gigantic rip-off of the American citizen until that citizen rises up, en masse, and demands what the rest of modern civilizations have, until the citizens rise up and demand, until they demand until they get it, and that is Medicare for all.

There should be one cry rising up from every group, from every organization, from every association that wants a rational, functional, useful healthcare system in the United States. One cry, and one only.

Medicare for all, the corporations be damned.

Nobody should be getting rich from healthcare, not the insurance corporations and their arrogant CEOs, not the doctors, not the administrators, and most of all not the politicians who have heartily agreed to the current system of corruption and disgrace, who willfully comply with the system of profit and denial that murders the citizens of this country, that creates sickness and disease, that weakens the fabric of the economy and the social fabric of the people.

No more. Not one penny more.

Medicare for all, the corporations be damned.

That is the cry that should be heard throughout the land. It should be loud enough to drive the Republicans back under their slimy rocks. It should be loud enough to make the Democrats quiver and shake and fear for their future. It should rage and scream so loudly that all other options are driven from the table.

Reason has failed. Intelligence has failed. Rational argument has failed. Anecdotes of suffering and misery have failed. Only rage is left. Rage and action.

When the thunderous rage of millions falls on the corruption of Washington, when it continues to rain on the heads of timid Democrats and cold, arrogant Republicans, when they all fear for their jobs, for their future, perhaps even for their very lives, then and only then can the corporate evil be destroyed.

Medicare for all, the corporations be damned.

A brave people, united in the quest for the basic right of good healthcare, would en masse cancel their health insurance and bring down the system that way if all else fails. But the system will fall, either of its own unsustainable greed and corruption, or because the people demand it, now, because they demand to live in a society that puts people before sociopathic insurance corporations that contribute nothing, not one thing, not one iota, not the tiniest bit of health care to one single person.

One focus. One call. One goal, and only one.

Medicare for all, the corporations be damned.

Joe Lieberman & His Republican Friends Despise The Middle Class, The Working Poor, And America
November 2, 2009

Senator Joe Lieberman, a narcissistic egotist from Connecticut, says he’ll filibuster the public option in health insurance reform.

Let’s understand something here. The Senators are haggling about health insurance. What the country needs is health care.

The argument is not about the public option. The real fight is whether the government will rein in the abuses of the health insurance companies.

The Republicans want to avoid disturbing the insurance companies lucrative piracy. The Republicans want to protect the insurance companies. If they openly side with the industry their supporters would say ‘Whassa matta you? The insurance companies are robbing us blind.’  The Republicans’ only option is to attack the public option as a way of killing any reform that threatens the insurance pig trough the Republicans feed at. (Right next to the Democratic feeders, let us not forget.)

So they cry ‘Socialism’ and ‘Government control of health care’ and ‘death panels’ and any other buzzword that their non-thinking supporters will bite on.

No matter what happens, whether reform is killed outright by the knuckle dragging Republicans or whether a watered-down version of reform passes, the middle class and the workers will get screwed.

The insurance companies will continue to act like bandits and make out like bandits. That’s what they are. That’s what they do. They get tens of millions of new customers forced into insurance servitude by the federal government, or they get off scot free, with no reforms. That’s the Republican way. And make no mistake about it, Joe Lieberman is a Republican through and through.

And the Democrats? Well, do you remember the ads about the 95-pound weakling getting sand kicked in his face on the beach by the muscle guy? Same thing, except that they’re getting kicked around not by an honest muscle guy, but by the idiot sociopaths of the Republican Party. Gutless, spineless, weak, fearful – that pretty much sums up the Democrats.

There’s hardly any point in even paying attention any more.

Yeats had it right.

How Greedy, Murderous, Vicious, And Cold Are Health Insurance Companies?
October 15, 2009

From the Washington Times:

In an e-mail, one Guardian Life Insurance Co. executive called high-cost patients such as Mr. [Ian]Pearl "dogs" that the company could "get rid of."

Mr. Pearl is 37. He suffers from spinal muscular dystrophy. His parents pay $3700 a month for health insurance from Guardian. Pearl will die without the care he now receives.

Rather than continue to pay for his care, Guardian cancelled certain lines of coverage in entire states. The Federal courts allowed them to do that.

It must be nice to be in Guardian’s position. If they don’t like a contract they agreed to they can just bow out. And if somebody dies, oh well, that’s the cost of doing business. Right?

If you get sick, your insurance company calls you a dog. You know what happens to sick dogs, don’t you? Does the phrase ‘treated like a dog’ resonate with you? Welcome to the land of greed and the home of the craven.

That’s health insurance in America.

Maybe someday we can get health care in America, you know, like the rest of the civilized world.
