Michele Bachmann, President: The Coming New McCarthy
June 28, 2011

Michele Bachmann is now officially running for President of the United States, or at least for the Republican nomination for the office. But her colossal ego most likely insists that she will be the next President, so that’s what she’s running for.

Listen to the woman who, while serving in the House of Representatives in 2008, said Democrats in the Congress should be investigated for anti-Americanism. Here’s what she said yesterday:

“Americans agree that our country is in peril today and we must act with urgency to save it,’’ Bachmann told the crowd of family, friends, and supporters. “And Americans aren’t interested in affiliation; they are interested in solutions, and leadership that will tell the truth. And the truth is that Americans are the solution and not the government.’’

Ah, now she makes herself clear. The United States government is not American. Apparently we’ve been fooled for a couple of hundred years by a fake government. Undoubtedly she will tell us at some point just who these imposters are who were elected to govern the country. Communists? Arabs? Muslims? Taliban? Black people? Brown people? Members of the Democratic Party?

Undoubtedly when she is President she will make everything American again and root out every last human vestige of anti-Americanism in the nation.

Those people will most likely be whoever is not Michele Bachmann. The categories of people (yes, people will be assigned to categories because it will be impossible to engage in wholesale cleansing of the body politic otherwise) will likely include non-evangelical Christians. Bachmann is an evangelical Christian who has a daily tête-à-tête with God – her god anyway – and does what it tells her to do, not unlike David Berkowitz, the infamous Son of Sam killer in New York City, who took his marching orders from a doG, and not unlike George W. Bush, the last delusional evangelical Republican President, who took his orders from his god and managed to kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

But Bachmann will undoubtedly, in the name of efficiency and effectiveness, not bother with multiple categories and just seek to silence and eliminate a single category of people – everyone who disagrees with her. That’s what deadly, delusional flakes like Bachmann do, have done, have always done.

Politicians like Bachmann sharpen their daggers with the sort of empty rhetoric that they are sure will appeal to a broad swath of Americans who have lost the ability to think critically, indeed, to understand anything beyond a media-approved sound bite.

“I seek the presidency not for vanity, but because America is at a crucial moment and I believe that we must make a bold choice if we are to secure the promise of the future,’’ she said.

Crucial moment. Bold choice. Secure the promise. The future.

Oh she has them all lined up, those little buzz words designed to short circuit the vestigial critical powers of the American electorate.

And it’s probably true that she’s not in it for vanity. Nope. She’s in it for her massive ego, for her mania for power, for her rage to correct everything she sees wrong in American society, which is pretty much everything that isn’t Michele Bachmann or Michele Bachmann’s beliefs, no matter how delusional, how ignorant, how uninformed, how bigoted, how hateful.

Just to refresh your memory about where this woman’s head is at, here’s the link to the Minnesota Independent story about her McCarthy moment on the Chris Matthews show in 2008.

In a stunning interview with Chris Matthews of MSNBC, Rep. Michele Bachmann called on the media to investigate anti-American sentiment in Congress, after slamming Barack Obama as “anti-American.” The accusations by Bachmann spurred massive fundraising for her opponent and the creation of a movement to urge Congress to censure Bachmann.

On MSNBC, she said, “What I would say is that the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. I wish they would. I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America? I think the American people would love to see an expose like that.”

On Obama she said, “Absolutely, I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views.”

There’s a lot wrong with Michele Bachmann, but down at the very heart of what’s wrong with her as a potential President is her ignorant view of what’s wrong with America and the world, and her overgenerous belief in her ability and methods to fix it all and make America right for her god and her regressive, dangerous politics.

If you thought George W. Bush was bad for the country, if you thought Joe McCarthy was bad for the country, wait till you get a load of the load of evil this broad will drop on the nation and the world.

The Real Skinny On Climate Change Not In U.S. Media But Guess Where…
June 23, 2011

Here’s a piece that pulls no punches on climate change/global warming, and you won’t find it in the American media with its happytalk airheads and so-called objective reporting and its vast wasteland of useless trivia and trivialization of virtually everything.

Nope, not on Fox or MSNBC or CNN or ABC or CBS or anything like those, except maybe over at Current where Olbermann now resides. Not in the New York Times or the other top tier American newspapers.

Nope, you have to go far afield, have to go among the people our politicians, wholly owned whores of the fossil fuel and war industries, have demonized and slaughtered.

Go read it over at Aljazeera. You might learn something. Probably not something you’ll get real thrilled about learning though. It’s a real kick in the head. Or punch in the face. Too bad the Washington crowd of inbreeders won’t ever read it. Not that they would pay attention even if they did take time off from whoring for the Koch brothers and their fascisti crowd.

The Progressive Rips Obama’s ‘More War’ Speech
June 23, 2011

Matthew Rothschild over at The Progressive Magazine site takes apart President Obama’s speech on the so-called troop drawdown in Afghanistan.

Obama and his crew are bullshitting us, plain and simple. Thousands of people will die for his political rhetoric and his pandering to the forces of right-wing warmongering and stupidity.

For three years we’ve watched this guy, waiting for some real change, some real courage, only to discover he hasn’t got the balls to take on the right-wing scum whose only goal is to scuttle a Democratic administration and sink the country into a fascistic theocracy to enrich themselves.

He’s delusional. His policies are delusional. His advisers are delusional. They all fit right in with a delusional Republican-dominated government of greed, willful ignorance, and stiff-necked arrogance.

Nuts to the whole bunch of them.

I’ve got to go feed the cats. At least they’re smarter, and better company, that this bunch of Washington fools, clowns, and sociopaths.

Faster And Faster We All Go Round, And All Fall Down
June 20, 2011

I’ve long held that the scientific predictions regarding global warming leading to climate change run way behind the reality. An article at Common Dreams makes the same claim regarding what’s happening in the oceans as a result of human action.

It’s kind of pointless, of course, because the fools running the various countries, particularly the fools in Washington, D.C. running the United States, don’t listen to scientists who know what they’re talking about. They only listen to political donors and ignorant talking monkeys on the political right and in the corporate penthouses.

The oceans are dying, and where they go we go.

Enjoy your fish dinner. Tomorrow you die of hunger.

Ring around the rosy
A pocketful of posies
"Ashes, Ashes"
We all fall down!

That innocent-sounding rhyme was all about the Black Plague.

At least there were survivors to write commemorative rhymes.

Cockroaches and rats don’t write poetry.

Mitt Romney: Filthy Rich and Utterly Clueless
June 16, 2011

Mitt Romney is a useless and clueless politician. He’s so desperate to garner votes that he will say anything, do anything, and change his mind seven times a day if he travels to seven cities a day. And yet he can’t help but wrap his tongue around his ankles and fall on his face when he opens his mouth to mouth his latest ideological platitude. And that mostly because he has absolutely no respect for the working people – you know, the people who made him and his father rich by busting their asses in factories.

His latest insult came in Florida while he was having a conversation with some unemployed people.

Mitt Romney sat at the head of the table at a coffee shop here on Thursday, listening to a group of unemployed Floridians explain the challenges of looking for work. When they finished, he weighed in with a predicament of his own.

“I should tell my story,” Mr. Romney said. “I’m also unemployed.”

Did you hear a word they said, Mittens? Or were you just salivating inside your little mind to get out that clever little sentence?

Here’s a guy worth a few hundred million dollars, who spent a good part of his business career throwing people out of work so he could line his pockets with cash, boo-hooing his lack of a job. Oh sure, he was trying to be humorous about it, but a rich man, a man who’s buddy-buddy with the Wall Streeters and the bankers who cost the country tens of millions of jobs and brought on the economic disaster of the last couple of years, a rich man whose Republican ideology says kick the workers, kick the poor, kick the sick, and give the taxpayer’s dollars to rich jerks like Mitt Romney and friends, jokes that he’s just like real unemployed people. To their faces. And according to the news story they didn’t have the balls to tell him off. They chuckled, like brain-dead, brainwashed idiots.

And he caps it off with this:

“We have all been distressed by the policies that this administration has put in place over the last two years,” Mr. Romney said. “We have seen the most anti-investment, antigrowth, antijob strategy in America since Jimmy Carter. The result has been it’s harder and harder for people to find work.”

It would of course be useless to point out to this stupid Republiclown that it was a Republiclown President and a Republiclown Congress that drove the country into debt, that drove the jobs out of existence, that played fast and loose with the Federal budget in order to fund two useless, pointless wars. (And some fool will no doubt say it was really Clinton’s fault, never mind the budget surplus that Clinton handed the born-again moron from Texas). And it would be equally useless to point out that the Republiclowns haven’t created one job since they won back the House, but have done everything they could to obstruct, delay, deny, and sabotage every attempt by the black guy in their White House to create jobs and get the economy back from the edge of the cliff the Republicans are so desperately trying to push us all over.

Come to think of it, pretty much all the Republiclowns are useless and clueless and really really don’t like people who get their hands dirty at work.

Mitt Romney, Man of the (Rich) People!

The Lion (that would be me) has a new blog, dedicated solely to reviewing books, of which I have way too many, so many that I might as well talk about them and foist off on y’all what I think about them.
