Remember Afghanistan? It’s Not Going Away. The Damn Fool’s In The Big Muddy, Again.

Do you remember this, the last verse of Pete Seeger’s song:

Knee deep in the Big Muddy
And the fools keep yelling, Push on
Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the damn fools keep yelling, Push on
Waist deep, neck deep
We’ll be drowning before too long
We’re neck deep in the Big Muddy
And the damn fools keep yelling to push on

Nothing much has changed if you believe Ray McGovern’s piece over at Common Dreams. Same fools, different names, same games.

        • That ‘kill team’ mentality is what you get when a corrupt military covers up its crimes in a psychopathic war run by fools.

        • That article was horrible. A person with a dark underside can live his entire life without it surfacing. Put him in a war zone, however, and the opportunity to exercise that societal constrained nature will certainly arise.

Suppose 0.6% of the general population is psychopathic. Assume as well that this percentage is carried over into the military population. Put nearly 100,000 soldiers in a combat zone and this translates to 600 armed psychopaths with readily available victims.

That is precisely the reason we need to be very reluctant to put large numbers of soldiers in minimally supervised situations.
