  1. You have my sympathy. Cats can be (no, make that are) a pain but they have a way of worming into the soft parts of one’s heart.

  2. Sorry to hear that Ric, hope you’re okay.

  3. I think that’s a very nice epitaph.

  4. Gosh, when I saw this, all my past little friends came flooding backing a heartbeat. It doesn’t seem to get any easier for me, no matter how many times it happens. You just don’t “get used to it.”

    My sincere sympathies.

P.S. Whoever’s dicing those onions, please cut it out.

  5. He was a beautiful cat. I’m sorry for your loss.

  6. Dude.

  7. I’m so sorry…

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for we know this last battle can’t be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
but don’t let grief then stay your hand,
for this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We’ve had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So,
when the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they’ll tend,
only stay with me until the end,
and hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

It is a kindness that you do to me,
although my tail it’s last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do.
We’ve been so close, we two these years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

  8. Thank you all for your kindness.

  9. Belated condolences, Ric. I hate losing a good pet. One of my two cats right now is going to kill me when he goes.

  10. Condolences from me as well, Ric. It’s a painful thing to lose a loved one. I hope you have someone simpatico there to grieve with, and rub you under your own chin. Be well.

Thanks. It always blows me away when one dies. The saving grace is that I’ve always tried to do the right thing by them. Never gets easier though, never.

Thanks. I only have the other cats and they’re merely hungry.

  12. Ric, This is very belated, but my condolences at the loss of Mookie.
