John Boehner, Your Village Is Looking For You

In today’s Globe, AP writer Hope Yen writes that the Democrats will continue to submit children’s healthcare legislation if they fail to override little Georgie’s recent veto of the State Children’s Health Insurance Plan (S-CHIP).

And of course the deadhead diehard Republicans will do their damndest to refuse to provide health insurance for several million children. Their pretext – parents who can’t afford private health insurance shouldn’t get government health insurance for their kids. Or the corollary: their kids should get sick and die. Or the other corollary: the parents should lose their home, their car, their cat and dog, and the clothes off their back to pay for healthcare for their kids.

John Boehner, House Minority Leader, a Republican, is so corrupt that he stood on the floor of the House and handed out lobbyist checks to Congressmen, and of whose intellectual prowess the best that can be said is that some village is looking for its idiot. He harumphed that:

“Most people don’t want government-run health insurance,” he added. “Republicans are working on a plan that will provide access to all Americans to high-quality health insurance, make sure that we increase the quality of health insurance that we have in America.”‘

Not quite right, Mr. B. According to a CBS news poll

“Two-thirds say the federal government should guarantee that all Americans have health insurance — and a similar number says providing health insurance for all is a more serious problem than keeping health care costs down.”

And as for ‘high-quality health insurance’ Mr. B., that’s a joke of monumental proportions. Even lousy health insurance is beyond the reach of most people these days.

And once again, the question should not be about health insurance. It should be about health care, as in “Do you want quality health insurance or quality health care?”

Private health insurance companies work for profits, and the way they make profits is to hire a lot of people whose job it is to deny you proper healthcare, and the way they keep those profits coming in is to use some of them to buy politicians like John Boehner who will earn their percentage by doing everything they can to stop a strong, quality healthcare system for everyone from being developed in this country.

  1. I have to say that this is typical.

  2. Interesting post. All true and most frightening is the way that even the insured are often denied payment by the their carrier. Check out this video on YouTube. It addresses exactly what you’re talking about.
