The Associated Press reports that New York City firefighters and their families have released a video criticizing Mr. G for his role in the 9/11 tragedy.
They argue that Giuliani’s administration failed to provide adequate radios for first-responders at the World Trade Center. And they remain angry at his decision to speed the removal of the enormous pile of rubble at ground zero, cutting back the size of the group searching for remains.
Giuliani’s campaign responded that union leaders do not speak for the rank and file. Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t those leaders elected in a free, democratic election? And that being the case, and there being no majority of firefighters speaking to the contrary, don’t those leaders thus speak for the rank and file?
“Firefighters across the country have no greater friend that Rudy Giuliani,” said Howard Safir, who served as fire commissioner and later police commissioner under Giuliani.
I would guess that Mr. G is a great friend of the people he appointed to this and that. But as for the rank and file, oh let’s see, how many was it that died on 9/11 because Mr. G refused to do the right thing? Yeah, lots and lots of dead firefighters.
“He’s not a leader. He is running on 9/11, and it’s all a fallacy,” says Jim Riches, the father of a Sept. 11 victim and a deputy New York fire chief.
“9/11, 9/11, 9/11,” crows Mr. G, as he hops from fund raiser to fund raiser among his rich friends.
Yup, real Presidential timber there. See him? See the creepy little man in the 9/11 suit?
Yowsah!
