What most people don’t realize is the reason Mr. G is actually running. Not because he offers anything to the country, or because he is qualified, but because he is perceived to have a better than average chance of winning. And the reason why this perception exists? Because of his exposure during 9/11. Most people that watched him couldn’t tell you anything positive that he did, other than get on camera acting like a mayor. He has positive name recognition, and that’s it. It’s a sad state of affairs, but the cruel reality is that in this country, for most voters, that’s all you need to be qualified to run. Look at Bush 43. If his last name had been Smith, Gore would have beat him handily in 2000.

Republican power brokers know that, the people with the money, the people who benefit from having a sympathetic man in office, and I will bet this years salary that they have pledged a significant amount of their support to him before he ever decided to throw his hat in the ring.

After thousands of wars ( A King’s sport) people realized that they must control the Kings -itching-to-go-to-wars. They added EIGHT words in their Constitution:
THE CONGRESS SHALL HAVE POWERS TO WAGE WAR.
The last two centuries saw the Kings denied the power to wage war.
But thanks to one word TERRORISTS the Kings, dictators and absolute rulers have gotten their full powers back. War or peace , its’ the KING’s war. Nobody can cry because the ducktaped mouths can only see , weep, but not shout.The word TERRORIST is the biggest KING REHABILITATING word of 5000 years. Only the KING/Dictator/absolute ruler is valid; rest humbug.

I’m guessing you’re right about Giuliani. However, I think we who want to criticize him more soundly are going to have to research more facts and list more sources.

I agree that he panders and has no thought for any but himself. His association with Bernard Kerik–former chief of police under Giuliani?–and the failed nomination of Kerik to head the Dept. of Homeland Security are the tip of the iceberg regarding Giuliani’s weaknesses: his past and his rewards to any willing to show fealty to the high and mighty G. Ethics and consequences be damned.

Good luck hunting him down.

Nicely written. Asking the question, what did he do to deserve being called a hero focuses thoughts on looking for substance instead of appearance. The next question that needs to be asked is, what didn’t he do that should have been done? For an in depth answer to that, you may want to contact Monona Rossel at http://www.artscraftstheatersafety.org/ – she and many other Occupational Hygienists volunteered to train clean up people in the proper use of respirators (which should have been used for health reasons) at their own expense. Rudy told them they weren’t needed. Now, people are dying of diseases directly related to the asbestos, silica, vaporized metals, etc. that were the aftermath of the towers being destroyed.
Talk to her – it will give you a whole new topic that needs to be explored when the man is running for president.
